The Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Level 6 is a New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) approved and accredited programme of study.

New Zealand’s electronics and telecommunications industry has gone through rapid growth and it is also a major growth industry worldwide. This programme has been designed to assist with addressing skills shortage areas in the electronics and telecommunications industries.

The aim of the Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications Level 6 is to provide the basic knowledge and skills required for entry-level employment in a range of roles in the electronics and telecommunications industries, or for further study in this area.

The programme content merges appropriate knowledge of electronics, communication engineering, mathematics, and electronics communication systems. It provides a broad base of technical competence of the basic building blocks of electronic devices and electronic communications technologies.

ENTRY CRITERIA

  • Minimum of a Level 5 qualification in the field of electronics / telecommunications (or equivalent skills and knowledge)
  • IELTS overall band score of at least 6.0 (Academic), no individual band less than 5.5 or
  • Pearson Test with overall score of 50 and above or
  • Pass QAG Academic Department English Entry Test

*Graduates of this qualification will be able to transfer any or all of these credits (120) to the Queens Academic Group Diploma in Electronics & Telecommunications Level 7.

ACADEMIC PATHWAY
Auckland University of Technology has formally recognized QAG’s Diploma in Electronics and Telecommunications [Level 6]. Students are able to cross credit a maximum of 4 papers towards AUT University of Bachelor of Engineering Technology (BET).

POSSIBLE JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Graduates of this diploma may pursue career opportunities in a wide range of entry-level roles in the electronics and telecommunications industries e.g. operations and maintenance technician, electronics sales/service representative, telecommunications technician, communication systems installer, field service representative.
